Stara Baška
A secluded island location that offers peace and quiet alongside stunning sandy and pebbly beaches
Stara Baška is a village located in the southern part of the island of Krk that belongs to the municipality of Punat. Its two-kilometre-long shore is dotted with wonderful sandy and pebbly coves with secluded beaches lapped by a turquoise sea.
In the past, the village was called Kraj or Podkraj. It was first mentioned as early as the 14th century as a shepherd's settlement. Today, it is particularly inviting for guests who want to enjoy peace and quiet, crystal clear sea and the fantastic sight of barren hills and rocks.
In Stara Baška, you can hear the bleating of sheep and gaze at the cove and the pastures enclosed by dry stone walls. Active guests can enjoy water sports, diving and spear fishing. Romantics and adventurers will be thrilled with the secluded wild beaches that can be reached by boat or the steep footpath that leads down from the only road in the area.
Don't miss out on the lamb, sheep's milk cheese, and local figs and sage honey, which all have a distinctive taste here.
